Missing the point, by a fairly wide margin

Saw a bumper sticker on a truck the other day that said "MY KID'S FIGHTING IN IRAQ SO YOURS CAN PARTY IN COLLEGE!"

Yeahhhh ... that's kind of ... not how it is, at all.

Your kid's fighting in Iraq because the murderous imbecile you voted for -- twice, if the "W" emblems in your back window are any indication -- SENT HIM OR HER THERE for no good fucking reason, you deluded, self-righteous prick. Not quite as snappy on a bumper sticker, is it?

A better bumper sticker would've said..."My kid is fighting in Iraq because that fucktard Clinton was busy being blown and didn't do anything about the shit going down in the Middle East when he was President"....

*cracking up* First, Madame Gleemonex, that was frikkin' brilliant! And second, don't you love conservative postings from anonymous because they're too chickenshit to leave a name or website, or to stupid to remember either.

Tee hee. Maybe it makes the parent feel better about the fact that their kids are on a crazy, worthless mission. I love that you share how I feel about the war (huh- what is it good for?)

Three things...
I never felt compelled to resort to calling any of you people with websites names...
I've never been so fucked up that I believed any politician would be better than the one currently in office. I'm intelligent enough to recognize they would just be different...
I've never been so arrogant to believe that just because I'm told something by people with agendas that what they say is the absolute truth...

Heck, you folks are the ones who were so smart and brave you managed to get websites and log in names so you must really know what you're talking about. Oh, wait! For every ranting liberal blogger, there is a wacko conservative blogger. What does that really say about the importance of having a blog other than anyone with a shitload of spare time can put their own brand of batshit insanity on the web? If it makes you feel better to think I'm nothing more than a "stupid chickenshit, witless boob”, it's fine with me but it doesn't make you right.

stupid, witless:

while i think I can at least sympathize with your assertion #2... doesn't it contradict what you said in your original post?

but furthermore, the way you are using your theory that "they all suck, just differently", doesn't it preclude any criticism of any politician, ever?

Again, I can get behind your cynicism, but I'm not sure it works as a theory of how political debate should be conducted.

But one more thing: it is true that Gleemonex (and probably the other posters, though I don't know them and haven't checked) are in a sense "hiding" behind pseudonyms as opposed to giving their names, addresses, etc. However, at least with a pseudonym you can have all your commentary identified as *yours*, and this results in at least *some* level of accountability (for example, posts can be cross-checked for consistency, hypocrisy, etc).

Pointing out Clinton is a fuck-up doesn't mean I don't think Bush is just as big a fuck-up...Try not to assume facts not in the record...
Presupposing all politicians are douche bags doesn't eliminate criticism nor the possibility of debate. It may actually open up real debate in that no one side can presume superiority...
As for my having a log in name making it possible for anyone to determine my sincerity...the fact I have bothered to comment indicates my sincerity at this moment. An individual post should be accepted for its content not the identity of the author. Who gives a shit who makes you think so long as you think? BTW, your bitching about me not having a website or log in name sounds an awful lot like Mzcrap's bullshit from Liberally Lean.

I'm not a hater. I'm just someone who didn't drink the cool-aide. You and guinness74 are the ones who turned on the hate. Check out my alias, you're the ones who gave it to me.

Right on, Gleemonex I'm currently in the Army and I've never understood the connection between war overseas and freedom at home.
